PRAYERS & REFLECTION

Prayers at Christmas

Jesus, Light of the world

Jesus, the Light of the World, as we celebrate your birth.
May we begin to see the world in the light of understanding
You give us.As You chose the lowly, the outcasts, and the poor
to receive the greatest news the world had ever known, so may
we worship you in meekness of heart. May we also remember
our brothers and sisters less fortunate than ourselves in this
Season of giving. Amen

Open the door of love

Loving Father, help us to remember the birth of Jesus,
That we may share in the song of the angels,
The gladness of the shepherds, and the worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate
And open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift
And good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings
And teach us to be merry with clear hearts

May the Christmas morning make us
happy to be your children
And Christmas evening bring us
To our beds with grateful thoughts. Amen

Thank you Jesus for them all

Round this table, here to pray. First we thank you for the day.
For our families and friends; gifts of grace that Heaven lends;
Living water, daily bread. Countless blessings our God sends.
Thank you, Jesus, for them all; For the great ones and the small.
When we're happy, when we're sad. On the good days and
the bad. We are grateful ,We are glad. Amen

The Meaning of Christmas

Lord, we know the Christmas story so well
Help us to know it better;
Make it more real to us, so that with
Mary and Joseph we may journey in faith to Bethlehem;
with the shepherds we may hear again the good tidings
of a Saviours birth,
and with the angels we may glorify your holy name.
So give us new joy in our Christmas worship,
and fill our hearts with wonder, love praise. Amen.

The needy at Christmas

Loving Father, as we thank you for the joy of Christmas,
we bring to you those for whom this season is clouded
by sickness or anxiety, by poverty or unemployment,
by loneliness or bereavement.
Keep them from bitterness or despair as they remember
the birth of Him who, for our sake became poor, that we
might possess the true riches; and may the song of the
Angels find an echo in their hearts; for Jesus ' sake. Amen

A Blessing for the New Year

God, bless the coming year,
and give us in your mercy;
Time for the task,
Peace for the pathway,
Wisdom for the work
and love to the last. Amen
