St Leonard's Church

Sherfield-on-Loddon, Hampshire

Our praying does not always have to be requests to God to bring about particular good things. This month I invite you to spend a few minutes just being with God. As you read through this page you could also have a candle to hand and light it when suggested. And take time to pray by being silent.

Thank you God for this time with you.

I believe in you, the creator who made Heaven and earth and who made us out of love.

I believe in your son, Jesus, who came to live among us and who, amazingly, showed us the extravagance of your love by suffering and dying. By suffering we grow more in our living; by dying we live completely.

I believe in your Spirit within me, and around, sustaining and enlivening me.

It is good, O God, to share these truths with all worldwide who wish to follow your way of living.

Now, my God, I light this candle as a symbol of your love for us and to say that your son, Jesus, is a light to the whole world. May I play my part; may I too be a small light, by the way in which I live.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Three in One, the holy, and wonderful Trinity bound together in love.

Blessed be God, the Creator of all things.

Blessed be the Christ, our Saviour and Friend.

Blessed be the Spirit within us, our Guide and Strength. Blessed be God, for all that he is and all that he has done. Blessed be the One in Three.

Blessed be God for ever.

Father, we give you thanks for your creation, for the beauty and wonder of our world. We ask your blessing upon all who work in caring for the earth and who labour to provide us with our daily needs.

Holy God, hear us and help us.

Jesus Christ, son of God, we give you thanks for the love you have revealed. May we share with you in bringing all people to a greater freedom? We ask your blessing upon all who are caring for the ill and hungry of our world.

Holy God, hear us and help us.

Spirit of God, may we know your presence with us and within us. We give thanks for the talents and abilities you give to us. We pray especially for all scientists and research workers; for all artists and crafts people and for all my friends in their daily activities.

Holy God, hear us and help us.

I live today in the power of the Father. I live today in the love of the Saviour. I live today in the light of the Spirit. I live today in newness of life. I live today in freshness and renewal. I live today in time and for eternity. Amen.

May God’s blessing be with you all
